Eco Freaks Shop Assistant

We’re looking for a talented Shop Assistant in Gosport.

Our client would like to recruit someone with demonstrable experience of providing fantastic Customer service in a retail setting, ideally with experience with a wide range of products including food.

If that’s you then you could be exactly what they’re looking for.

Please note: Part-time role located opposite Gosport bus station. You will be contracted to work 8/20 hours per week, 4 days out of 7, including weekends. A range of shifts available, full details to be discussed at interview.

About Us:

Eco Freaks is an eco-friendly store with a mission to help others become more zero waste.

We sell all kinds of products including dry foods, kitchen, bathroom, beauty and household goods. 

All our products are at least one of the following: organic, local, speciality or zero waste.

Our items are sourced to be ethical, sustainable and fair trade where they can be. 

Our prices are competitive.

We also work with the Real junk food project South coast – Trash Cafe network who tackle food waste between 5-12 tons of food a week and feed over 4000 people a week.

The Role:
As a Shop Assistant you’ll report to the Shop Manager and will be primarily responsible for playing a key role in the day to day running of the Eco-Friendly shop, ensuring all customers receive great products and a friendly service.

In addition you’ll be tasked with food preparation as well as ensuring that the shop is clean, hygienic and welcoming at all times.

The Candidate:
The ideal candidate for the Shop Assistant role will have relevant experience in a retail setting.

You’ll also need experience of communicating with people from all walks of life, constantly focusing on customer satisfaction.

In addition, it’s essential that you possess the following:
– Strong numeracy skills, basic computer literacy and a flexible approach to working hours
– Strong problem-solving skills
– Enthusiasm and a keen customer focused approach to the role

– Attention to detail

– Able to use own initiative

 

Ideal Candidate with have the following attributes:

– GCSEs or equivalent

– 2+ years customer-based experience

– Ability to work with in a team or on their own

– Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

– Excellent Verbal and written communication skills

– Well, Presented

The Package:
Basic salary: Up to £8.91 per hour for the ideal candidate (with potential to work to a higher rate)

TYPICAL DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Greeting and serving customers as they enter the store.
  • Advising and assisting customers.
  • Handling complaints or forwarding serious issues to the manager on duty.
  • Conducting customer transactions.
  • Replenishing the supply of stock on the shelves.
  • Assisting with store deliveries.
  • Cleaning as per schedules
  • Completing relevant compliance paperwork
  • Maintaining stock room & stock control
  • Collaborate with other team members to keep the shop organised, clean and stocked at all times
  • Working within the tea room
  • Greeting and serving customers as they enter the tea room.
  • Advising and assisting customers.
  • Handling complaints or forwarding serious issues to the manager on duty.
  • Conducting customer transactions.
  • Serving food and drinks.
  • Learning and knowing about products.
  • Assisting with tea room deliveries.
  • Cleaning as per schedules
  • Completing relevant compliance paperwork
  • Maintaining stock room & stock control
  • Collaborate with other team members to keep the shop organised, clean and stocked at all times
